Arthur Stacks, finds himself with 15 years of culinary experience, with nearly every position held under his knife. As a first generation Laotian American. Food’s presence in Stacks’ life grew immensely when his family moved from Providence, RI to Murfreesboro, TN where there was, and still exists, a large Laotian American population.
Within Stacks’ culture, food is more than something to be consumed; food is something to be experienced. Whether a birthday, a graduation, or an anniversary, the culmination of unity his community was held together by food – a concept which helped led to the creation of Ricey & Co. Just as rice holds sushi together, Ricey & Co. was formed during the 2020 Pandemic with the intention to bring back what was once lost, celebrations that bring people together. Stacks’ ultimate aspiration is to combine all things food with all things social, to celebrate the work-life balance that often people find difficult to achieve from employees to customers. Although Stacks’ inspiration derives from new seasons and occasions in his life, one thing remains a constant and that is that no matter the occasion, have a celebration. To be a cut above the rest, Ricey & Co. was formed.
FOR THE LOVE OF SUSHI
Sushi finds its origins within Japan’s Yayoi period which spanned between 300 BC - 300 AD, believed to have begun in the paddy fields along the Mekong river of Southeast Asia. Sushi continued to grow in popularity throughout the Muromachi and Edo periods before Hanaya Yohei perfects the technique of nigiri in 1824 in his shop in Ryōgoku. by the end of the 1800s, desire for sushi had spread around the world, and by the early 1900s, it reached American soil.
Today, sushi is adored by people from every economic class and is the most widely-eaten food across the country. Creativity abounds surrounding the many ways and combinations it can be consumed and its popularity continues to grow year after year.
From queens and emperors to workers in the fields, a passion and love for fresh, healthy food is rooted deeply in the love for sushi. At R&CC we remove the complexities of sourcing fresh fish, proper cutting, preparing, presenting and pairing and provide a seamless experience in the comfort of your own home or place of business. Making it easy to enjoy what people love…sushi.
